Fighting for the Promise For People With Disabilities

These photos are from the rally attended by thousands of Californians at 10:00 AM December 10th, 2003 on the North Steps of the State Capitol to protest Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed budget cuts that calls for the permanent suspension of the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act and other major cuts and programs eliminations that serve infants, children and adults with developmental and other disabilities, seniors, low-income children and others.

The protest rally, called "Fighting for the Promise For People With Disabilities" was organized by the California Disability Community Action Network, a network linked to thousands of people with disabilities, their families, community organizations and providers, direct care and other workers, and other advocates.

The rally was followed by the Senate Budget Subcommitee #3 on Health and Human Services hearing on the Governor's proposed spending cuts (to the current budget now in operation), which began at 11:00 AM, in Room 4203 in the State Capitol. The protest rally was organized to bring as many people as possible who will be impacted by the Governor's proposed cuts, to testify about the impact.
