The
Achieving Independence System is a process developed by the Dale Law
Firm to educate our clients on the issues and decisions that they must
deal with in providing for their disabled loved ones where reliable
asset management and public benefits are essential. The Dale Law Firm,
PC has been involved in doing these workshops on Special Needs Trusts
and Limited Conservatorships for over 10 years and has recently recorded
the presentation for distribution on DVD.
The presenter is Stephen W. Dale of the Dale Law Firm, PC and reflects over 14 years of practice dedicated to serving the estate planning needs of persons with disabilities and their families with an emphasis on preservation of essential government benefits such as SSI, MediCal and IHSS.
The Special Needs Trust DVD covers the basics of public benefits, the different types of Special Needs Trusts, common pitfalls, and how to select a trustee. The focus of the DVD is going beyond preservation of benefits with an emphasis on using the trust as an advocacy tool to prevent abuse and neglect.
The Limited Conservatorship DVD covers alternatives to the Conservatorship including use of the IPP, medical directives for health care, powers of attorney, and working closer with the regional center. The DVD emphasizes the need to explore all alternatives before conserving to find the least restrictive alternative.
Each DVD is divided into chapters, so if for instance you wish to review the segment on public benefits from the Special Needs Trusts DVD, you can listen to each program over and over.
